St Mary's Successful With  Tasmanian Government Built Heritage Scheme Grant

St. Mary’s has been successful in receiving a Grant under the 2nd Round of the Tasmanian Government Built Heritage Grants Scheme, through Heritage Tasmania.
The Grant of $7204 has enabled us to carry out urgent repointing of some of the stonework in the eastern wall and repair the stone ridge capping.
This has rectified a major water leak which was causing dampness within the wall, as well as more visible water damage within the building.
This was a specialised job, and we have been fortunate to have accredited Heritage Stonemason, Duncan Foster, carry out this work.
Work will continue as funds permit to repoint other areas of the stonework, which involves replacement of the original mortar.
We thank the Tasmanian Government and Heritage Tasmania for their support of our efforts to ensure that St Mary’s is conserved and maintained for the community.

      Small Grants Program          2023/2024

St Mary's Community Cemetery Kempton Inc was successful in obtaining a grant under the Community Small Grants Program. This grant is administered by the Southern Midlands council.

The grant allowed us to carry out essential restoration work to the Heritage front gates and fence. The front gates are a vital part of the cemetery, as they enhance the street scape and are part of the Heritage of the church.

The committee acknowledges and thanks the Southern Midlands Council for their contribution to this project, and for their support of our efforts to maintain a part of our community Heritage.
